This Privacy Policy explains how Gram Power India Pvt. Ltd., now known as Polaris Smart Metering Private Limited ("Polaris", "we", "our", "us"), collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the mobile applications listed below. Where a practice applies only to certain apps, this policy names the app(s) concerned.

Applications Covered

This Privacy Policy applies to the following applications published by us on Google Play and the Apple App Store:

• Urja Seva Gomati
• Urja Seva Saryu
• MSPDCL Smart Metering App
• Meter Setu Gomati
• Meter Setu Hooghly
• Meter Setu Saryu
• Gas Meter Technician
• Orion

Information We Collect

Location Data (Orion only)

The Orion application collects precise (GPS-based) location. It is the only application listed above that accesses location data.

• What we collect: Precise (fine) location coordinates.
• When we collect it: Both while the app is in use (foreground) and while it is running in the background.
• Why we collect it: Orion is a field workforce application. Location is used to (a) track the location and activity of field executives against their assigned work tickets, and (b) capture and record the geographic location of installed devices/meters for accurate asset and installation records.
• Why background access is required: Field executives carry out assigned tickets while the app is not actively open on screen. Orion accesses location in the background so that tracking against active tickets remains continuous during field work.

Before Orion requests location permission, an in-app disclosure is shown explaining that location is collected, including in the background, and the app proceeds only after the user grants permission. Users may revoke location permission at any time through their device settings.

Consumer and Account Information (Urja Seva Gomati, Urja Seva Saryu, MSPDCL Smart Metering App)

These three consumer applications collect:

• Account / consumer identifiers: consumer ID, connection/account number, and meter number.
• Contact information: mobile number (used for OTP-based login), name, and service address.
• Financial / payment information: recharge amount and transaction references for prepaid recharge and bill payment.

Photos (Gas Meter Technician and Orion)

These applications allow field personnel to capture site and installation photographs as proof of work.

Device and Diagnostic Information (all applications)

All applications listed above collect device identifiers, app version, crash logs, and analytics data used to operate, maintain, and improve the apps.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate and provide the core functionality of each application.
• For Orion, track field workforce activity against assigned tickets and maintain installation/asset location records.
• For the consumer applications, authenticate users (OTP), service accounts, and process prepaid recharge and bill payments.
• Maintain proof-of-work records from field installations (photos).
• Monitor performance, diagnose crashes, and improve the applications (device and diagnostic data).

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your information. Location data (Orion) and work-proof photographs are stored on Polaris-controlled backend systems and are not shared with third-party SDKs or applications.

OTP and SMS delivery. One-time passwords and SMS notifications are sent through an SMS gateway using your mobile number:

• For Urja Seva Gomati and Urja Seva Saryu, messages are delivered via the UPPCL SMS gateway.
• For MSPDCL Smart Metering App, Meter Setu Gomati, Meter Setu Hooghly, Meter Setu Saryu, Orion, and Gas Meter Technician, messages are delivered via the Polaris / Gram Power SMS gateway.

We do not otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their own independent purposes.

Data Storage and Security

Information is stored on secured backend infrastructure controlled by Polaris. We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All data transmitted between the applications and our backend is encrypted in transit using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS).

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law or by the relevant utility/DISCOM.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us at [email protected].

Children's Privacy

Our applications are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights

In accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
