Impulse Test

The test checks how well a meter can handle a sudden, high-voltage spike —that might happen during a lightning strike or a sudden power switch-on in the grid.

  • Industry Standard: 6kV / 0.5J – 500Ω Source Impedance
  • Polaris Standard: 10kV / 0.5J – 500Ω Source Impedance
  • That's nearly 70% more stress tolerance than the standard — ensuring durability even in unstable grids.

Surge Test

The test checks how well a smart meter can handle a strong burst of electrical energy — when there's a fault in the power line, a short circuit, or sudden changes in load.

  • Industry Standard: 4kV – 2Ω Source Impedance
  • Polaris Standard: 10kV – 2Ω Source Impedance
  • Designed for high-fault zones and rural grid conditions — meters that keep running when others fail. That is 2.5x times more than Industry Standard.

HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test)

The test checks how a smart meter performs under extreme weather conditions — like very hot, very cold, or very humid weather — for long periods of time.

  • Industry Standard: Cold: –25°C (72 hrs)/ Hot: 70°C (72 hrs)/ Damp Heat Cycle: 40°C / 95% RH (144 hrs)
  • Polaris Standard: Meets all the above + extended 85°C / 85% RH for 700 hrs
  • That's 5x longer damp heat endurance at higher temperature & humidity — ideal for Indian summers and coastal zone.
